Liturgy Committee

Committee for Enhancement of the Liturgical Environment

The committee has as its goal the enhancement of St. Augustine's liturgical environment. Each liturgical season our members read up on environmental decorating studies prepared by liturgy experts, and attempt to apply various principles to the particular architecture of our church. We hope that our efforts not only add beauty to the church but also create an environment that brings the message of the gospel not just to our ears but also to all of our senses.

The committee plans, selects, arranges, and schedules for the various liturgical celebrations. While some floral arrangements are purchased, the committee assembles most of the flowers and decorations. This enables St. Augustine's to purchase the loveliest flowers that are appropriate for the liturgy and to avoid the significant labor charges of professional florists who may not understand our liturgical purposes.

The committee has approximately 8-10 permanent members. We can use more members, as well as alternates who could volunteer for particular tasks or celebrations. We seek members with artistic talent or organizational skills, or those who enjoy shopping or have cars.

Meeting Time/Place: Flexible time 3 to 4 times yearly in the Rectory
